The day of the procedure is an exciting but nervous one. Patients often become nervous about the procedure and this is normal. Once they get to the office and we explain how minor the procedure is, patients begin to feel better. One of the most common comments after a procedure is “I don’t know why I was so nervous!”.
We also give patients a mild sedative to help them relax and some pain medicine so they are completely comfortable. During the procedure many patients will sleep the first half and watch a movie or listen to their music the second half.
The procedure can take between 4 to 6 hours. During that time, tiny hair seeds are transplanted from the donor region into the recipient region where the hair is needed.
