This past Super Bowl many players were sporting long hair and big beards. So much so that this renewed focus on men’s hair became a blogging sensation for the weeks before and after the big game. From the Super Bowl winner Clay Mathews long blond hair to Troy Polamalu’s gigantic head of hair, there was a lot of talk about hair. Head and Shoulders shampoo became a sponsor of the Pittsburg Steelers’ Polamalu. The company featured him in several of their advertisements and a spokesman for the company said they took out a $1,000,000 insurance policy on Troy’s hair with Lloyds of London.
Let’s face it we love our hair. Our hair often defines us. We cut it, color it, curl it and style it to reflect who we are. We use our hair to make a statement about our personalities and our moods. This is why when we lose our hair, it affects us so much. Hair loss in men and women negatively impacts how they look at themselves and how others look at them. While the shaved head or very short hair style is ok for some men, it doesn’t work for most and it doesn’t work at all for women. “That shaved head style has really begun to fade and more and more men suffering with hair loss are reaching out to us to help with their hair loss,” says Michael Ramsey, Clinic Director for PAI Medical Group, a hair transplant clinic located in Brentwood, TN.
Hair loss was once a part of life for millions of men and women. They didn’t have good options to solve their problem. Today, there are outstanding options to help control hair loss and restore hair that is lost. “Hair transplantation today is a simple, out-patient procedure where in many cases most of the hair can be restored in a procedure or two,” adds Michael. Hair transplantation is a process where small hair seeds are selected from the donor region on the back and sides of the head, then extracted and ‘transplanted’ into areas that are thinning or bald.” Michael continues, “As a patient myself, the best part about it for me is that the transplanted hair is permanent. I don’t have to worry about if falling out again. It maintains its permanent genetic code that it had in the back so that when it is moved to the area of thinning, it grows in permanently.”
Hair loss today has become more of a choice for people. While it is true not everyone is a candidate for hair transplantation, more people are than ever before. The days of not having an option to deal with hair loss is really behind us for most people. Advances in grafting techniques -like PAI Medical Group’s Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ – gives people with hair loss a natural, permanent option to solve their hair loss once and for all. “We deliver a natural result today using our ‘blended’ approach. We use up to 9 different graft types to deliver a natural look. Also, this approach allows us to transplant more hair at a time than with most other transplanting technologies available. Additionally, since patients need fewer procedures the overall investment is less,” says Michael.
