After a hair transplant procedure, about 10% of the transplant sites will have small scabs (dried blood) about the size of a freckle or large strawberry seed. These scabs will fall off within 7 to 14 days.
By applying a warm compress to the scabbed area 3 to 4 times a day, the scabs will soften and come off more quickly. Some patients will apply vitamin E or conditioner over the scabbed area for a few hours before showering to soften the scabs so they come off more easily.
