Common Questions People Have About Female Hair Loss

There are multiple causes of hair loss in women. Firstly, you may genetically inherit female pattern hair loss from your parents or grandparents. Secondly, you may be experiencing a hormonal imbalance caused by pregnancy or menopause. Additionally, you may experience hair loss due to stress or illness. It's worth noting that often times, people suffer from hair loss due to various medications. Finally, women can bring about hair loss with damaging hair dyes and hairstyles like braids, ponytails, or hair extensions.

Around 40% of women will experience some form of hair loss during their lifetime. Within this demographic, there are two prevalent types of hair loss patterns: hair loss distributed across the entire scalp or hair loss concentrated on the top of the head, known as female pattern baldness. Fortunately, both types of hair loss can be addressed through various non-surgical hair restoration modalities. However, in cases of the latter pattern, surgical hair transplant procedures may also offer effective treatment options.

At We Grow Hair, we provide a range of non-surgical and surgical hair restoration options tailored for women experiencing hair loss. Among our non-surgical treatments are Laser Therapy, Plasma Therapy, and specialized products and supplements. Additionally, we offer two types of hair transplants: Multi-Unit Hair Grafting™ and ARTAS Robotic FUE. It's important to note that while FUE is available, it's less common among women due to the requirement for a shaved head during the procedure.

A hair transplant is recognized for its effectiveness and permanent results.  It is the only procedure at We Grow Hair that is guaranteed.  Every patient is different and results from non-surgical hair loss treatments may vary. Nevertheless, at We Grow Hair, we've consistently demonstrated success with all the non-surgical treatments we offer.

All the hair restoration treatments we offer at We Grow Hair are safe. Laser Therapy is FDA approved and Plasma Therapy uses your own healing plasma to treat ailing cells.   All our products are made from the purest, pharmaceutical grade natural ingredients.

Laser Therapy is FDA approved.  There is no discomfort during each 20 minute treatment and there are no known side effects.  Plasma Therapy draws blood from your own body, isolating the healing fluid and injecting it into areas of hair loss to heal ailing cells.

Side effects after a hair transplant include moderate discomfort for the first 24-48 hours, moderate oozing, numbness and scabbing.  Some patients experience temporary shock loss, which is where surrounding hair falls out and eventually grows back.

Hair transplant patients typically start seeing results as early as 4 months, with final outcomes can be seen by month 12. On the other hand, non-surgical patients typically experience noticeable improvements in their hair within a timeframe ranging from 3 to 6 months.

The hair transplanted in a hair transplant is permanent.  Some patients may desire an additional transplant to thicken results or treat areas that haven't been transplanted yet.

All non-surgical treatments are not permanent.  In order to maintain results, patients will need ongoing treatments.

For patients seeking the best approach to address hair loss, prioritizing prevention through non-surgical modalities is critical. It's essential to understand that once a hair follicle perishes, it's lost permanently. By actively preventing the irreversible destruction of hair follicles, patients can significantly reduce the extent of hair loss they experience over time.

Patients who effectively address hair loss typically adopt a consistent hair care regimen to preserve their existing hair. Non-surgical hair treatments promote scalp health and enhance hair shine and thickness. Incorporating a regular routine of non-surgical treatments as well as using sulfate-free, paraben-free, and vitamin rich hair products further fosters a healthy environment for hair growth. Additionally, steering clear of damaging dyes and hairstyles plays a crucial role in preventing hair loss.

For any woman encountering hair loss, the initial step is to consult with a general practitioner to ascertain whether an underlying health issue is contributing to the hair loss. Subsequently, it's recommended to seek the expertise of a hair restoration specialist, such as We Grow Hair, who can assist in selecting the most suitable treatment(s) to address hair restoration needs effectively.

Women Experience 2 Types of Hair Loss

Which one are you?

female pattern hair loss

Type 1: Female Pattern Hair Loss

Thinning on the top of the Head

If you have Female Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), you may be a candidate for the solutions listed here.  This type of thinning is caused by genetics, meaning that someone in your family on either side (male or female) had pattern baldness.
diffuse hair loss in women

Type 2: Diffuse Hair Loss

Thinning All Over

If you have diffuse thinning, a hair transplant is not recommended until your hair loss is under control with one or more of the non-surgical treatments listed here.    If diffuse thinning is corrected and evidence of pattern baldness is still present, a hair transplant may be an option.
